ascribes in full to the Code of Ethics set forth by the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. We believe that Hawaii's workers' compensation system provides the injured employee the best medical technology available. In our role as case coordinator for industrial injuries, we insure that the intent of the workers' compensation statutes are implemented with equity and fairness so as to minimize litigious conflict.

FRAUD RESISTANT SYSTEMS...


The fraudulent claimant is unwelcome in the worker's compensation system. To that end, Our medical care and rehabilitation modules are designed to discourage dishonesty. We promote modified duty and work reentry programs as incentives for abuse reduction. Open communication with employer and carrier reduces confusion which dishonest claimants can take advantage of.

INITIAL VISIT CASE EVALUATION AND VALIDITY CHECK...


In an effort to help the carrier avoid litigated cases, the professionals at Workstar™ pre-screen all cases prior to initiation of treatment. Mechanism of injury is described by the patient with signature verification as well as any witnesses. Time and date of notification of employer are also required. The possibility of preexisting conditions is investigated. All validating documents are available to the carrier on request. Invalid claims are referred for treatment under alternate insurance

MODIFIED DUTY PROGRAM

Through extensive experience with Hawaii's workers' compensation laws, Workstar™ has engineered its rehabilitation program to be "abuser unfriendly". Components of our system designed to discourage fraudulence include documentation of causal relationship, pain self-portraits of each visit, objective psychological testing, and aggressive, modified duty work reentry programs.

MODIFIED DUTY WORK REENTRY

Inactivity is a great demoralizer in hindering a workers rehabilitation. Workstar™ strives to obtain an agreement for modified or light duty from the employer and provider. This allows the injured worker to return to the work force in a capacity that they can perform in before fully recovering. This aides in a swift recovery and is advantageous to both employee and employer.

CRONIC PAIN MANAGEMENT

Teaching the injured worker to cope with pain is essential to the progression of many workers' compensation cases. The long term case often needs a multi-disciplinary approach with physical therapist and other specialists working hand-in-hand. Our program includes a complete psychometric patient evaluation and is administered by chronic pain psychologists.
